Welcome to the “Reflections” space of the Provincial Centre of Excellence website.
This space shares the reflections of Centre-affiliated educators, scholars, and others to offer thoughts on early childhood pedagogies. These reflections are provocations intended to help us listen and question beyond what we already know.
The intent of provocations is not to provide answers or suggest best practices, but to provoke questions – “for it is in exploring our questions that learning happens” (Ministry of Education, 2014, p. 5). As you immerse yourself in these reflections, we invite you to carry forward the voices emerging on this website, to bring the ideas that pique your curiosity into thinking with colleagues and families. This process of collective reflection, which happens in relationships, can offer transformative possibilities and, “may require, for some, a shift in mindsets and habits. It may prompt a rethinking of theories and practices – a change in what we pay attention to” (Ministry of Education, 2014, p. 17).

We offer these reflections in a digital space where visitors can interact with a diversity of media and modalities (e.g., written interviews, podcasts, images, hypertext).
